Shot in Tokyo, London and rural Herefordshire, this debut is a compelling portrait of the impact of war on a young man that anybody who has friends or family serving overseas should see. It's the story of Tom, ex-army veteran of an unknown conflict, who is haunted by his war-time memories. Adrift in a strange city he reaches out to a young Japanese girl but life's not easy when struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Beautifully filmed, this has a dreamy, poetic quality, and a strong central performance that distinguishes it from many a first feature.
