A refreshing, astringent and engaging take on the ongoing struggle between Israel and her neighbours that shows how the demands of 'security' and the law poison their respective humanity. Salma is a widow scratching out a meagre living from an old lemon grove right on the Israeli/Palestinian border. When the Israeli Defence Minister moves into a new house opposite she is ordered to uproot her trees as they pose a risk to his safety. But she is determined to fight and so embarks on a journey deep into the complex, dark and sometimes funny chaos of life in the Middle East.
