17 years old and alone in the world, Mamie travels to Britain from the Democratic Republic of Congo in search of safety. Shunted off by the careless, well-meaning but useless authorities she soon loses touch with her only friend and is easy prey for unscrupulous landlords and gang masters. Made in Birmingham with non-actors from within the refugee community who give impressive, touchingly honest performances, this shows just what life is like for child asylum seekers in the UK.
